WoFiManager

WoFiManager is the application designed to manage the WoFi content through USB link. This documentation explains how to deal with the application.

The pages below are still to be improved in a more user friendly way, and thus are subject to change

The application can be run on MacOs, Windows or Linux.

It can downloaded from Kiviak Instruments download page

  • MacOS users: install the application from dmg file provided
  • Windows user: install the application thinks to the provided installer
  • Linux users: consult the Readme file and install the relevent dependencies through your distribution packet manager before kaunching the app.

Prerequisite

The application communicates with the WoFi through USB.

Since the main communication mean with the WoFi is through the wifi, it is recommended to start the WoFi in 'Flight Mode'

NB: Flight mode is achieved starting the device holding down the INT button

Working in connected mode is possible, but file transfert errors can occcur in this mode. In this case, transfert must be started again

Connecting the WoFi

Plug the WoFi to the computer using an USB cable. The device is recognized as a Composite USB device, i.e. it can be used both as UART and MIDI device.

  • In Settings Tab, choose the correct COM ID. The naming depends on the OS, most often naming is as below, xx stand for numbers:

  • MacOS ID: usbmodemxx....

  • Window ID: COMxx...
  • Linux ID: ttyACMxx... or ttyUSBxx...

If you are not sure, you can unplug the device, refresh the list, then replug the device and refresh again. The WoFi ID will the one that appears

  • Click on connect to start the link

NB: The choice of the ID should be saved and restored the next time you run the application

Managing WoFi content

WofiManager display 2 views for managing contents:

It offers also a simplified way to update the device from the Firmware update view

Working folder

The files that you managed are stored in a directory called Working folder You can set it through the setting tab, and access to this folder using a file explorer if you want to edit these file using third parts application.

NB: The sample file format is WAV file, the patch can be edited only through the WoFi

Advanced settings

Manual synchronization

If you manage the content through the WoFi itself, like creating new patches, reating new recording, or deleting some contents, the list displayed on WofiManager should be desynchronized. You can force the refresh using advanced buttons:

  • Refresh allows the file list to be requested again

  • Rebuild cat forces the device to rebuild its internal catalog

If you restart the device using the *Power button, disconnect/connect action should be performed

Network settings

The WofiManager allows can help to setup a wifi network, especially if the password is difficult to enter just uising virtual keyboard of the device

  • The available network are displayed in the Network list
  • Select the right one
  • Enter the password
  • Click on Send config

Factory settings

The internal flash memory of the WoFi can be erased from Wofi Manager, also reseting the internal settings of the device to its factory state:

  • Click on Factory Reset
  • The device will restart once, requesting a confirmation for erasing the memory. You can cancel this operation chosing cancel at this step
  • The device restarts a second time in its factory state
